The Weston Art & Innovation Center, a makerspace branch of the Weston Public Library, is now open and offering a wide array of classes and programs. The AIC provides hands-on learning opportunities related to art and technology at 356 Boston Post Rd., Weston, MA.

Photography Basics - Getting out of Auto

When: Saturday, September 28, 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Cost: $60

Want to get the most out of your DSLR or Mirrorless camera? Instead of using your auto settings, learn how to use the manual settings to dramatically improve the quality of your photos.

Painting Lecture with Kathleen Speranza

When: Thursday, October 3, 7:00 - 8:00 PM
Cost: Suggested donation $5

This lecture will present the work of artist Kathleen Speranza. Kathleen will discuss her recent body of work and inspiration. She is best known for her oil paintings and drawings of botanical subjects.The talk will include art historical context for the subject and its current relevance.

Fix-It-First

When: Saturday, October 5, 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Cost: Suggested donation $10

Have an inoperable lamp? Volunteers will be on hand at the AIC to help fix lamps at the first ever ‘Fix-It First’ event – which is open to everyone for a modest donation. Keep your eye on the calendar to learn about this and future Fix-It First events that might include repairing your toaster, your bike, or even your hair dryer.
The event is free, but if you would like to make a donation to help support future programs, we suggest $10.

Intro to EL Wire- Great for Halloween!

When: Thursday, October 10, 7:00 - 9:00 PM
Cost: $50

Electroluminiscent Wire or EL Wire can be a fun way to add light to your project. In this class you will learn about the different ways to power EL Wire and how to cut and splice it.

This Open Mic Night is an inclusive, regularly scheduled event that forges connections between musicians, singers, poets, comedians, storytellers and an enthusiastic audience. We invite you to perform or just come to listen. Open Mic night is held in the Weston AIC performance space.

Printmaking Workshops

Laser Cutter Training & Certification

When: Saturday, October 19, 1:00 - 3:00 PM
Cost: $20

Certification is required to use the laser cutter without immediate supervision of a qualified staff member. You may obtain certification by attending one of our monthly training classes and demonstrating that you can use the machine safely and responsibly.

Open Studios

When: Tuesdays, 6:00 - 10:00 PM
Cost: $10

Come in and use the equipment for which you've been certified. Equipment is available on a reservation basis. You may also use our workspaces for your own projects, or get advice on planned projects.
