America’s Birth Certificate:
The Declaration of Independence

with University of Maryland Historian Richard Bell

Wednesday, March 29, 6:00-7:30 at the COA

The Declaration of Independence is a peculiar thing. It’s a literary masterpiece that was written jointly by a committee of fifty people. But what is it exactly and who is it aimed at: the American people, King George, or someone else? What did people at the time make of it? What did it change? Why does it matter? In this talk, historian Richard Bell will tackle the fascinating origins, misunderstood purpose, and extraordinary global legacy of the Declaration of Independence.

Seating is limited for this popular speaker. Call the COA at 781-786-6280 to register.
