Ah summertime, when you can read for more than just enjoyment!

Prizes. We mean that there will be prizes. Little kids, big kids, teens, and adults can all join in on our summer reading programs to see if they can beat their reading goals and maybe even get a little something for having done their part to keep Weston reading all summer long!

Registration for summer reading begins Tuesday, June 14th (the link won't be live until then- have patience!). Folks of all ages can register at https://westonlibrary.beanstack.org/

Younger children (preschool through Kindergarten) can join our Preschool Reading Program. Readers entering Grades 1 - 6 can join our kids' Summer Reading Program.
Middle and High School students entering Grades 6 - 12 can register for the Teen Reading Program. Lastly, our readers 18+ can join in the adult program, "Reading is So Delicious."

The  Preschool Program

Keep track of books shared with your child. Enter the title and author of each book read together on their Reading Page in the online database. You can even give each book a short review! For every five books read, you earn a prize from the Summer Reading Treasure Chest. There are also some just-for-fun challenges.

The Kids' Reading Program

There are two different ways to keep track of your reading. Once you register and start your Online Reading Page, you are ready to go! The first option is to earn Logging Badges by entering the title and author for each book you read. The second option is to complete Activity Badges over the summer, with all the Activities related to books, libraries, or reading. And of course, you can do both!

Each time you earn a Logging Badge, you can pick a prize from our Summer Reading Prize Chest. Stop by the Library and check in with the Librarian. You may pick up three prizes per visit.

We also have a Summer Reading Raffle! Every time readers earn an Activity Badge, they get a raffle ticket, which can be put towards the summer reading raffle prizes. These prizes will be on display in the display case at the Library. At the end of the Summer Reading Program, we will draw the names of the winners.

Everyone who participated in the program can join us the last week of August for a Summer Reading Celebration!

For the Teens

Teens can earn points by logging reading, completing challenges, and writing reviews. Teens also earn raffle tickets to win big prizes based on the number of books read. Points can be redeemed at the end of the summer reading party. Teen-only programs will also be happening in July and August:

  • Felted Whale Workshop, July 7
  • Mandala Workshop, July 12
  • Mysteries on the Move, July 25
  • Henna Workshop, August 3
  • Glass Mosaic Tile Workshop, August 5
  • Felted Snail Workshop, August 11
Visit our online calendar to sign up as the dates approach.

And for the biggest kids (ahem....adults)

The Weston Public Library invites you to sprinkle some fun into your summer- it really is a piece of cake. Read and earn tickets for some food-themed prize drawings. All you have to do is read or listen to 2 or more books and whip up a review for each title. Register and log your reviews at the link above.

Lucky readers will be awarded specially selected new cookbooks. Registration is open from June 14 to August 9. Prizes will be awarded on August 16. Bon Appetit!

The Craft Room will be open this summer!

Each week, we will have a new craft; the directions and materials will be available on the tables in the Craft Room. Stop in and make something fun and camping related.

Don't forget about programs and activities...

Look for special performances for all ages throughout July and August! Check our Event Calendar at www.westonlibrary.org so you don't miss our special summer activities! Can investors make money in the stock market the "old-fashioned" way — buying and holding quality stocks, reinvesting dividends, using price declines to accumulate more shares, and pinching their pennies when it comes to transaction costs? DRIP Investor newsletter readers know the answer is unequivocally "yes."

Read this newsletter in our periodicals area next time you visit the library. While you're here, ask our Reference staff about our other financial and investment resources, like Valueline Research Center. For home use of Valueline, enter in your library card number, then use the username "Weston" and the password "Library" (without the quotes, case sensitive) to access this resource.
