Jon Sakata and Jung Mi Lee, An All-Beethoven Concert

The Library’s Music Committee invites you to join us for the final performance of our 2021-22 Virtual Concert Series. Beloved pianists Jon Sakata and Jung Mi Lee will transport us once again to the beautiful Bowld Recital Studio on the campus of Phillips Exeter Academy, where they will perform and all-Beethoven program. Both pianists will join for piano four-hands performances of Beethoven’s Coriolanus Overture (1807) and the third movement (Adagio molto e cantabile) of Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125 (1822). Jon will also play the Allegro movement from Beethoven’s “Hammerklavier” Sonata No. 29 in B Major, Op. 106 (1818).

Known for their great creativity as concert pianists and transdisciplinary artists, Jung Mi and Jon have performed around the world and have been featured in countries as diverse as Brazil, France, Denmark, and the People’s Republic of China. Since 2009, they have collaborated with architects in Europe and the United States, exploring the interstices between music and architecture. Jung Mi and Jon live in Exeter, New Hampshire and have taught on the Music Faculty at Phillips Exeter Academy since the mid-1990’s.

The Music Committee’s video concerts are accessible through its webpage (https://www.westonlibrary.org/1526/Music-Committee), through the Weston Media Center’s Videos On Demand service, and on local television channels: Verizon Channel 45 and Comcast Channel 9. After each première, concerts will continue to be available online and on the local cable channels for viewers to enjoy.
