Happy New Year from all of us at the Weston COA!

Though we find ourselves staring down the unknown once again this January, we find solace in the hope that the new year ushers in. As we look back on 2021, we reflect on the power of community and all that we've overcome and learned together.

There's so much to do at the COA as we enter the new year, including our first ever chef kit offering, a (real) trip to the MFA and (virtual) trip to the Greek Isles, watercolor, 1873 Treat of Paris: America's Future on the Brink and Art Appreciation: Women Artists Up to the 20th Century.

We hope you will join us as we kick off the new year together, whether it's here in person at the Community Center or on Zoom.

The 1783 Treaty of Paris: America's Future on the Brink

Wednesday, January 5, 1:00-2:00pm on Zoom

Signed in 1783, the Treaty of Paris was the formal agreement that ended the War for Independence and created the United States of America. Presenter and University of Maryland historian Richard Bell argues that the Treaty of Paris was a triumph for US diplomacy that reset relations with Britain and set a new border with Spanish North America. Notably, however, the treaty also damaged the US-French alliance irreparably and left Natives, loyalists and fugitives from American slavery to fend for themselves. Call the COA at 781-786-6280 to register.
