COA Community Updates
June Reflections

In June, we handed out over 80 Bags of Sunshine, filled with snacks, cheerful trinkets, and beautiful suncatchers made by the kids of the Weston Community Children's Association.

A huge thank you to the WCCA, to the Weston PTO for their generous contribution to support the purchase of many of the Bags of Sunshine items, and to local Scout, Carlie, who helped us stuff the bags.

We were so happy to unlock our doors alongside other town buildings on June 1 and welcome the public appointment-free! We welcomed many new faces and caught up with old friends.

We continued to increase our in-person programming safely as well as our incredible repertoire of well-loved Zoom programs, offering the opportunity to participate in:

  • 25+ people enjoyed coffee and muffins at the COA
  • Our Weston Scramblers golf group began playing together
  • Weekly Tuesday morning walks around the Case Campus and Legacy Trail
  • Return of our grocery shopping shuttle
  • 11 weekly fitness classes plus our monthly trail walk
  • 3 support groups, including the return of in-person Caregiver Support Meetings
  • 10+ virtual presentations and programs, including a summer brunch cooking class, a virtual tour of the House of 7 Gables, The Music of the Civil Rights Movement, Votes for Women: Women Leaders in the Suffrage Movement, virtual tours of Alhambra and Stonehenge
You can check out any of our recorded programs on our website.

Weston Gives Back

Stop by the COA to donate to Welcome Home

Drop off in COA vestibule M-F 9am-4pm

The COA is hosting donation drives in July & August for  local organizations in great need, as donations to nonprofits dip in the summer.

In July we are collecting donations for Welcome Home, a nonprofit organization in Newton, that collects and redistributes like-new household items to local families and individuals experiencing hardship with basic household items they need to live with dignity. These items are provided with no fees, no forms, and no requirements. Items that are tarnished, stained, overused, or broken are not accepted.

New and gently used items accepted are:
mixing bowls, utensils & silverware, glasses & mugs, plates & bowls, food storage containers, dish towels, sheet sets (all sizes, folded and labeled with size), new pillows, shower curtains, bath mats, new bath towels
