It's time for a virtual trip to... Azores

Wednesday, December 9, 1:00-2:00 on Zoom

This visual tour will offer an introduction to a lush tropical paradise which, if it isn't already on your bucket list, definitely deserves a spot. We'll "visit" Sete Cidades Lake - the most popular postcard view of the Azores - with its blue/green water and also see hot springs, tropical gardens, quaint villages and the ubiquitous hydrangeas. Our tour guide, Marilyn Harris, worked in education for over 40 years and in her retirement has continued to teach classes on history and travel.

Local and Global Discussion Group

Climate Change

Thursday, December 10, 1:15-2:30 on Zoom

Building on the first article in the 2020 Great Decisions briefing book from the Foreign Policy Association and the LGDG Zoom meeting in May, the group will revisit Climate Change with a more global focus. Jim Jensen will brief us on the activities of the International Energy Agency and Joel Angiolillo will look at what various countries are planning around taxing carbon, cap and trade, and other attempts to reduce the use of fossil fuels. The election results will provide a better idea of how aggressive the United States approach to this worldwide problem will be and what role we will now have in global climate treaties. We look forward to your joining in this topic that will command all of our attention once the Covid-19 is conquered. The meeting is open to anyone who is interested in a civil discussion of the issues with wide participation from a variety of individuals. For further information on this meeting in particular or the group in general, contact Susan Wagner at 508-733-8810 or email her at susanwgnr@gmail.com.

pharmacy

Does it Matter Which Pharmacy I Use?

The pharmacy you use could make a big difference in the cost of your drugs. All Medicare drug plans and Medicare Advantage plans (HMOs, PPOs) have network pharmacies. Most pharmacies accept most plans. However, if you go to a pharmacy that is not in your plan’s network, your drugs will not be covered and you will pay full retail price. For 2021, all the 27 Medicare drug plans have preferred pharmacies as do several Medicare Advantage plans. You should check that the pharmacy you currently use is the best one to use with your plan; plans can change their preferred pharmacies from year to year. By using a preferred pharmacy, you may save money. The SHINE Program is available for remote counseling and assistance. Trained SHINE volunteers offer free, confidential counseling on all aspects of Medicare and related health insurance programs. Call the COA to schedule a SHINE phone appointment. For other SHINE related matters, call 1-800-243-4636. Once you get the SHINE answering machine, leave your name, number and town. A volunteer will call you back as soon as possible
