Weston Invasive Plant Advisory Group

The Weston Invasive Plant Advisory Group (WIPAG) is an informal collaborative representing Town organizations, staff and volunteers concerned with the preservation of Weston’s biodiversity and natural ecosystems. WIPAG approaches the management of invasive plants in Weston in the following ways:

  1. Through the development of an Invasive Plant Management Policy for the Conservation Commission intended to be used for guidance for other town bodies.
  2. By advising the Select Board, Conservation Commission, and/or Planning Board on Invasive Plant Policies or Regulations that have been effective in other communities and may be appropriate for Weston.
  3. Through the sharing of experiences and knowledge on invasive plant management between its member groups, boards and committees.
  4. By keeping abreast of the most up-to-date research and best management practices on the management, disposal, and restoration of invasive plant populations.
  5. Through the development of volunteer opportunities, educational materials and outreach for residents and business owners in Weston.

WIPAG meets approximately every 2 months, and meetings are open to the public. If you would like to attend a WIPAG meeting, please email the Conservation office.
